I kneel by the gate

Imagess,

I kneel by the gate –

there is a spell upon me!

I cannot move one;

darkness troubles my heart!

Into that place of memory I cannot venture –

please –

take me anywhere else.

There is no safe place here.

There is no father.

I cannot look up for fear of being seen.

It is too much for me to move on.

How?

There is so much to forgive, so much to forget

that I fear I have lost memory itself.

I kneel by the gate –

there is a spell upon me!

I cannot move on;

Truth!  Terrible truth!  Truth troubles my heart!

  1. I like it – has undercurrents of forgotten memories perhaps better left forgotten (at least that’s how i’m interpreting it). Great image too – is it by chance a painting of Rome burning? Great work, keep it up! 🙂

  2. Thanks, I wrote it in the context of what happens in my novel at that moment (I added one illustration & poem per chapter), of course it has a lot to do with my own emotions – more than I could admit. It’s the most beautiful painting, will find the artist’s name for you, we learnt about him in art history this week, it was so inspiring..muchos gracias
